Mini interview with Stilleben - Reckweg & Nordentoft

Mini-interview with Stilleben Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft has designed Kähler Omaggio Read an interview with Stilleben

Which creative opportunities do you see in the ceramic material?
As a material, ceramics is both functional and artistic, which makes it possible to take a functional approach, but also an aesthetic, expressive approach.

Where do you find inspiration for your artistic expression?
Most of the time, we are inspired by a certain atmosphere or mode of expression.  We are also often inspired by the traditional, genuine ceramic designs, - their surfaces and their shades. We try to add functionality and adapt it to the Kähler style.

Aside from this Kähler collaboration, what other projects are you working on right now?
At the moment, we are designing our own line of tableware, thrown in Denmark and only sold in our store Stilleben. In the longer run, our goal is to expand the Stilleben product portfolio.

Which feelings would you like your Kähler products to engender?
I (Jelena), wish to inspire people with the contemporary expression that our products have and to fulfill people’s need for functionality.

Which benefits have you experienced from your collaboration with Kähler?
Working with Kähler has provided us with a world of opportunities. For many years now, the success of the Omaggio range has allowed us to develop and expand – both as a company and as designers.

Who is your favourite amongst all the other Kähler designers?
We have always been huge fans of Cecilie Manz. We also adore Marianne Nielsen, whose work commands great respect.
