Bottino is inspired by the classic fishing float, which apart from belonging to a distinctly masculine universe also holds great beauty in its geometric shapes and decorations. Against that background, the designer Agnes Fries is to participate in this years Trapholt Biennale for craft and design.
Agnes Fries graduated from the Ceramics and Glass Design Department of the Danish Design School in 2005.
She has reaped great praise both in Denmark and abroad for her functional pottery crafts, and in 2006 she received a travel grant from the Danish Ministry of Culture.
Agnes Fries was attached to Kähler in 2008 with her Bottino series, a series of vases inspired by the classic fishing floats. For Agnes, design is a way of understanding society through aesthetics. In her work for Kähler she is focussing on designing beautiful and affordable design objects.
Agnes has exhibited at the Biennale for Crafts and Design and Design 2009 at Trapholt. Moreover, Kähler’s and Agnes Fries’ Bottino series was singled out by the Wallpaper magazine as one of the highlights of the Tendence Fair in Frankfurt 2009.
