Great effect from a small candle holder Inger Mehlum’s fascination with the transparency of porcelain is also expressed in her Roma candle holders, in keeping with Kähler’s design traditions. The characteristic pattern in translucent porcelain creates a magnificent effect when the tealight is lit. The whole candle holder lights up, while the relief stands out in a living pattern. It is expressively nostalgic and awakens associations with the Coliseum and Rome at the height of its glory.
Inge Mehlum is trained at the Danish “Designskolen Kolding” from 1974 – 1978 and has run her own ceramics workshop since 1989. Besides from making applied art, she creates large handmade pots with a sculptural expression.
